The prime benefit of LED lamps is that their lifespan and energy efficiency are several times greater than traditional incandescent lamps and improve even further when compared to fluorescent lamps.
Given the opportunities provided by LEDs to improve performance, save energy and to reduce carbon footprint, it is not surprising that LED usage is growing at around 20% per annum.
A significant difference between LED lights and others is that the light from LEDs is more directional, being emitted as a narrower beam. LED lamps can be used for both general purpose and special purpose lighting. When coloured lighting is required, LEDs that emit light of a single colour do not need energy-absorbing filters.
